Fresh on the heels of another attack, Georgia’s Judicial Council and Administrative Office of the Courts have been hit with ransomware similar to the ransomware that impacted two municipalities in Florida.

According to Ars Technica, a court spokesman did confirm the attack but the agency has not shared details as the the full nature of the attack or the hacker’s demands. Some reports link the attack to the same Ryuk ransomware that hit at least two Florida local governments last month.

This is a frightening trend, and we can’t help but wonder what links these attacks together (aside from them all being government agencies). It’s time for local, state, and Federal agencies to partner and establish a solid cybersecurity plan, and for service providers to help stop the bleed of taxpayer dollars to criminals.

If we receive additional information related to this attack, we’ll update our post accordingly.
